PKU Friendly Spaghetti Dinner and Fundraiser

To:  PKU Patients and their extended families

The Upstate Chapter of MACPAD and the Golisano Childrens Hospital Clinic of Inherited Metabolic & Genetic Disorders are very excited to be holding our second PKU friendly spaghetti dinner on Sunday April 10, 2010.  The dinner will be held in beautiful Senaca Falls which is a quick 45 minute drive central to Rochester, Syracuse, and Ithaca!  This will be a great opportunity for patients at the new clinic in Syracuse to get to meet others effected by PKU, share a meal without worrying about bringing PKU food, hear an update on the phe monitor and see one if it is available, get updated on most recent data on the way phe affects the brain from Dr Kwon, talk about some exciting upcoming events, and most importantly to support MACPAD and the National PKU Alliance (NPKUA)!   We need to thank Biomarin, Applied Nutrition, Vitaflo USA, PKU Perspectives, and Cambrooke Foods for once again sponsoring this event!  Each person attending will be entered into a drawing for a $75 Cambrooke gift certificate!  We will also be selling raffle tickets for 1 ticket for $1 and 5 tickets for $3 and raffling off some awesome items such as the Virginia’s newest food list book and much more!  All proceeds will be given to MACPAD designated for PKU research and to support NPKUA!    We will have some NPKUA t-shirts for $5.  Please visit to view the progress of the National PKU Alliance and the latest in PKU research.   This is a very exciting time for patients with PKU as there is much progress being made in new and exciting PKU treatments!  Let’s keep that ball rolling!!

The dinner will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, bread, and ice cream and brownies for dessert.  For our low protein guests, we will also serve spaghetti and veggie meatballs and breadsticks as well as low protein ice cream and delicious brownies.  There will be activities for the kids, presentation from the clinic, and Biomarin may show a prototype of the home testing device if possible.    We will also have a low protein food exchange table where you can bring any unwanted but not expired, unopened, non-perishable low protein foods to exchange –a guilt free way to get rid of those food items your kids just won’t eat!

When:     Sunday, April 10, 2011  1 pm

Where:    SMS Italian American Center  95 Ovid St  Seneca Falls, NY  13148
